Hydrangea quecifolia
Oakleaf Hydrangea
Size: 10' x 8'
Exposure: Full sun to part shade
Flower: White panicles in late June
Oakleaf has gained in popularity over the past few years.
Perhaps its hardiness and ability to tolerate drought, all
while performing admirably, is why.
The uniquely shaped leaves emerge in the spring, maintaining their
attractiveness throughout the growing season. In late June,
the braches are topped with creamy white sepals in a panicle.
These are effective for a few weeks until they fade adn take
on a rusty red hue.
Once the weather begins to cool, the foilage change to an intense, deep
red coloration that lasts for weeks on end. Then they clump
to the ground and expose the beautiful grey and creamy white
exfoliating bark.
