Callicarpa japonica ‘Leucocarpa’                      White Flowered Japanese Beautyberry

Size:  6’x 6’

Exposure: Full Sun to Part Shade

Flower:  June, pale lavender

C. japonica is different from C. dichotoma by having leaves a little more disheveled along the branches.  A large stature, overall, separates the two also.

Leucocarpa was selected for its white fruit set in late September, but has other qualities making it even more useful.  In June, the branches are adorned with very light lavender flower clusters that are effective for about 3 weeks.  The foliage also deserves attention because of its unique light green coloration, which adds a bearable brightness to the garden.
