Vitex agnus-castus ‘Blushing Spires’                       Pink Chastetree

Size:  6’ x 6’  (when cut back)

Exposure:  Full Sun

Flower:  Very light pink in late June

Vitex deserves kudos for being such a tough plant and still having the ability to mix up the flower color a bit.  It could have pleased the gardening world with fantastic blue flowers and no one would have asked for more.  But, it went ahead and added to the color spectrum with the release of light pink flowers.

Many times, when a plant has a lighter flower selected from its population, the selection will display weaker tendencies like high disease instance or slower growth.  Well, let us guarantee this is not the case with ‘Blushing Spires’.  It has grown on par with var. latifolia and shown no increased susceptibility to pests.
